Pancreatic Cancer Europe is a legal entity (ASBL) since 2016 registered in Brussels - Belgium, under the number ASBL n°656.553.804. All decisions regarding the platform are taken collectively by platform members, each of them having an equal voice in the decisions regarding the platform’s activities and orientations.
Our administration board:
Professor of Medical Oncology at Alcala University and Director of the Medical Oncology Department at Ramon y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid, Spain. He is presently serving as Director of the Ramon y Cajal Institute for Health Research IRYCIS.
Diagnosed in 2007, Ali Stunt is one of the few pancreatic cancer surviving patients. Saved by an early diagnosis of the disease, Ali is the Founder and Chief Executive of Pancreatic Cancer Action (UK), an association devoted to encourage early diagnosis for the illness.
European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC)
The European Cancer Patient Coalition is the voice of cancer patients in Europe. With over 400 members, the European Cancer Patient Coalition is Europe’s largest umbrella cancer patients’ association, covering all EU member states and many other European and non-European countries. The European Cancer Patient Coalition represents patients aﬀected by all types of cancers, and was a founding member of Pancreatic Cancer Europe.
Dr. Núria Malats
Dr. Núria Malats is currently the head of the Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology Group at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), Madrid, Spain. She has a broad expertise in these fields of research by focusing mainly on bladder and pancreas cancer. She coordinates several large national and international studies integrating different levels of information, including omics data, in both disease development and progression. She has over 250 publications and is external reviewer of national and international funding agencies and first rank scientific journals. Dr. Malats chaired the EUPancreas COST Action (BM1204), is a board member of the International Pancreatic Cancer Case Control Consortium (PanC4), and the chair of the Research Work Stream of Pancreatic Cancer Europe (PCE) multistakeholder platform.
Sorin T. Barbu
Sorin T. Barbu is a Professor of Surgery, Chairman of the 4th Surgery Department and member in the Surgery Council at the “Iuliu Hatigeanu” University of Medicine & Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He has been President of the Romanian Pancreatic Club since 2007, Councillor in the Executive Committee of the European Federation – International Society for Digestive Surgery (EFISDS), member of the UEG Public Affairs Committee and of the European Pancreatic Club since 2002. Before being elected Board Member at the PCE AGM in Barcelona, in June 2018, he has been a member of PCE since 2015.
